Restaurant Refresh is the internal restaurant of the Hotel Management School Maastricht (HMSM), for students and staff members. The restaurant is run by the first-year students as part of the practical curriculum.
In the restaurant and kitchen there are multiple staff members active in the role of practical coach, for the food production, service and events aspects. In Refresh the students are introduced to the basic principles of menu engineering, cost calculation and managing the processes of a restaurant. Aside from being a restaurant, Refresh is also responsible for the internal catering and events in the school building.
You will be working with two other Refresh coaches as well as a weekly rotating mix of national and international first-year HMSM students.

As a Refresh coach you are responsible for the in-house catering events at HMSM. Besides that you are expected to run the operations and uphold standards of the service aspects of the restaurant Refresh. This includes the purchasing and stock control of beverages. Your sharp eye for these beverage cost will contribute to a positive financial performance of Refresh.
While training-on-the-job you are supervising and managing our first-year practical students.
You observe and co-assess students on a daily basis; focused on developing students and with an eye for recognizing and stimulating individual talent. Together with the students you coordinate and plan the work schedules/timetables.
An important part of your job is also to maintain hygiene standards.
You are willing to work flexible hours and you have excellent motivational coaching and communication skills, both written and spoken, in English as well as Dutch.
A fulltime position, or a minimum of 0.8 FTE, in a salary scale awarded depending on your qualifications and experience at level 7 (min. €2.737 – max. €3.740 for a full time appointment).
To this is added holiday allowance (8%) and a fixed year-end bonus (8.3%), a generous number
of holidays, professionalization and employability hours and a complete offer to work vitally
and with pleasure.
We are looking for a temporary Refresh coach for the period January 2025 until mid-July 2025.
