The organisation

Mercedes-Benz’s goal is to produce the world’s most desirable cars. The company focuses on the development, production and sales of passenger cars, vans and vehicle-related services. The Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC) in Maastricht, Netherlands, is building and driving the luxury experience for our customers. The CAC is running a customer contact center for European Markets; covering customer service requests, questions regarding our Mercedes-App family and retail support. Globally the CAC governs all processes and systems for MB’s customer contact centers in 54 locations.

The function

The main responsibility of the DevOps Service Architect is to ensure an effective and reliable architecture, design & implementation of the DevOps Ecosystem in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the business processes, ensuring platforms and frameworks to create consistent, verifiable, and automatic management of governance, applications and infrastructure between non-production and production environments. This role will be part of the Architecture Community of Practice and will be responsible to design, implement & maintain tooling & processes of the global CAC IT landscape, supporting its development and operations. This role will work closely with Agile team(s) in order to lead or guide the design and implementation in alignment with program architects. With this in mind the service architect keeps the program architect(s) as one of her/his main stakeholders, insuring the emergent design goes along with the overall planning made for the program. The service/team architect will also participate actively in all SAFe events, supporting the team where needed.

As Service architect DevOps you will act as a subject matter expert, who will use her/his, knowledge and experience to design, develop or change, implement and maintain our DevOps tooling & processes in the broader landscape of the CAC

What would be your tasks & responsibilities?
•   Plan and co-ordinate the execution of assigned changes and projects within Mercedes-Benz guidelines in order to meet the agreed quality standards, time planning and budgets.
•   Doing proof of concepts or feasibility studies for possible solutions.
•   Communicate often and effectively with program architecture and the community of practice.
•   Pro-actively support and have an active role in the architecture definition, design, development and deployment; maintaining our CAC IT ecosystem in cooperation with the program and train architects.
•   Responsible to design and orchestrate the overall CI/CD ecosystem, integrated with test automation framework where applicable.
•   Share your knowledge and expertise in the team to ensure continuity, by keeping documentation up to date, providing training material and become recognized as the IT expert within the company for a specific subject / specialism.
•   Engage with product management, stakeholders and support teams from initial requirement gathering, through design & implementation till deployment and operations
•   Participate in disaster recovery planning definition or tests if requested
•   Support operational issues by assessing and help solving in the context of the DevOps tooling solution

Requirements

Who are you?
•   University degree or higher vocational education
•   Min. 5 years of experience as DevOps architect or engineer
•   Good knowledge on integration design and event-driven architecture
•   Good hands on experience with deployment planning & coordination.
•   Good communication & leadership skills
•   English is our corporate language, German is an asset
•   Analytical and design thinking
•   Strong interest in innovative technologies and desire to work on pioneering engagements
•   Technical Skills:
•   Good experience on overall CI/CD tools and techniques
•   High level of experience with GIT Hub. Knowledge on automation flows in GIT is valued
•   Experience with SaaS or cloud products
•   Experience with JIRA & Confluence (and respective integrations)
•   Experience & knowledge with setting up & running DevOps platform tooling
•   Experience with automated testing & monitoring
•   Experience working in agile environments using Scrum, SAFe and DevOps
