The function

The Service Architect Azure is a role in the IT departmentof the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center (CAC), which has grown from being the local IT Provider for the CAC to being the Global Service Provider for the core CRM application of Mercedes-Benz AG worldwide. In total up to 20.000 dealers and 2000 call center agents worldwide make use of our applications.

The Service Architect is responsible for defining and communicating a consolidated technical and architectural solutions within Agile teams for Microsoft Azure services, a major component of the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Center IT landscape.

As a Service Architect Azure at Mercedes- Benz CAC you will leverage your subject matter expertise in designing cloud and hybrid solutions that run on Azure. Your role is critical in transforming business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performance Azure solutions that align with both the Azure Well-Architected Framework and the Cloud Adoption Framework for Azure.

The Service Architect Azure will be part of the Architecture Community of Practice and will be responsible for designing and maintaining the technical architecture of the global Azure implementation, supporting its development and operations. This role will work closely with the Agile team(s) to lead or guide the design and implementation in alignment with the intended program architecture. With this in mind, the service architect considers the program architect as one of their main stakeholders, ensuring the emergent design aligns with the overall planning for the program. The Service Architect will also participate actively in all SAFe events, supporting the team where needed.

Your role involves:

• Solution Design:
  
  • Advise stakeholders and translate business requirements into Azure solutions.
  • Design solutions encompassing compute, network, storage, monitoring, and security components.
  • Ensure solutions are in alignment with the MB CAC guidelines & Infosec/ Governance requirements.
  
  
• Implementation and Collaboration:
  
  • Partner with developers, administrators, security engineers, and data engineers to implement solutions on Azure.
  • Align with the Azure Program Architect and the Enterprise Architect on the roadmap for the future.
  • Guide and mentor technical teams on best practices for Azure deployment and management.
  
  
• Governance and Monitoring:
  
  • Design identity, governance, and monitoring solutions to ensure secure and efficient operations.
  • Develop and implement monitoring and alerting strategies to track performance and health of Azure resources.
  
  
• Data Storage and Business Continuity:
  
  • Design data storage solutions that ensure data integrity, availability, and redundancy.
  • Architect business continuity solutions, including disaster recovery plans and backup strategies.
  
  
• Infrastructure Design:
  
  • Create comprehensive infrastructure solutions that leverage Azure services for optimal performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Evaluate and integrate new Azure services and technologies to improve existing infrastructure.
  
  

Requirements

What we're looking for:

• University degree or higher vocational education
• Min. 2-5 years of experience as an IT architect or technical Lead
• Code review experiences as technical lead
• Good knowledge on integration design and event-driven architecture
• Good knowledge on data modelling – entity relationship concepts, data governance, data analysis, data standards, visibility, etc.
• Strong communication skills
• English is our corporate language, German is an asset
• Willingness to code, configure or debug if needed to help the team
• Analytical and design thinker
• Strong interest in innovative technologies and desire to work on pioneering engagements
• Experience:
  
  • Advanced experience in IT operations, including networking, virtualization, identity, security, business continuity, disaster recovery, data platforms, and governance.
  • Proven experience with Azure administration, Azure development, and DevOps processes.
  
  
• Skills:
  
  • Strong knowledge of Azure compute, network, storage, monitoring, and security services.
  • Ability to manage how decisions in each area affect an overall solution.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills to articulate technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
  
  
• Certifications:
  
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are a pre. Familiarity with the latest updates to certification
  • Experience working in agile environments using Scrum, SAFe and DevOps
