The function

Within the supply chain, we want to implement a cross-functional team for “parts solution management”.

The main tasks will be to identify, analyze & resolve structural issues that cause or could cause disruptions in the supply chain that lead to limited parts availability.

To achieve that the team will consist of three colleagues that work very closely together for a trial period of one year. These are:

  • Parts Solution Coordinator (MST)
  • Data Analyst (MST)
  • Supplier Management Expert (BCN)
  • The cross-functional team consisting of the Parts Solution Coordinator, the Data Analyst and the Supplier Management expert will take an “agile” project approach with several improvement cycles.

The Data Analyst will provide data input about re-occurring bottleneck situations and provides in-depth analysis about possible root-causes.

The Parts Solution Coordinator interprets the analysis and identifies weak spots or gaps in the underlying processes.

He/She will involve the relevant stakeholders, mostly the Supplier Management Expert to draw up a new process / adjustments to the existing processes, which can then be presented to management for decision making.

Once the decision has been taken, the Parts Solution Coordinator and the Supplier Management Expert will coordinate the implementation of the new/adjusted process.
