As YUFE Project coordinator R&I you are responsible for the UM internal organization of all research-related YUFE work packages and for the communication and coordination with the relevant Alliance partners. Also, you will be the Project lead at UM for YUFERING, a project under the umbrella of the YUFE Alliance with a focus on Open Science and Community Engaged Research.

In this new role, you will coordinate the participation of UM in various YUFE work packages that touch upon research, (post)doctoral training, Open Science and Community Engaged Research, thus creating an extensive YUFE network in the field of research at UM.

As YUFE Project coordinator Research & Innovation you will:

  • Represent UM in the YUFE work packages that evolve around research, Open Science, training for PhD’s and postdocs and research innovation;
  • Coordinate and support all YUFE work package efforts at UM on the above mentioned topics;
  • Coordinate and support all YUFERING efforts at UM;
  • Identify the UM staff that can be involved in the research-related work packages and YUFERING and support them in the fulfillment of relevant tasks at UM, thus building a YUFE research network within our university and beyond;
  • Work together with representatives of all academic and non-academic partners of the YUFE Alliance in the different work packages and activities that have a link to research;
  • Build a network of stakeholders in the field of research at UM, both on faculty level and in the central organisation;
  • Report on the progress of YUFERING and the relevant work packages at UM to the stakeholders in the Alliance. You will timely signal bottlenecks and propose alternatives to the internal and external stakeholders in a pro-active manner;
  • Report on the progress of all relevant activities to relevant UM-internal bodies (e.g Research Platform);
  • Be part of a small and versatile team that pro-actively searches for ways to integrate the innovative YUFE activities into the existing UM structures. In the team you will be the back-up for the YUFE Project Manager when needed;
  • Work closely together with staff representing UM in various YUFE projects and activities linked to research.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a proactive and goal-oriented individual with a hands-on mentality and flexibility to adapt in a fast-changing work environment. We are looking for a motivated self-starter equipped with excellent self-management, time-management and intercultural communication skills, to be part of the transformational initiative that Young Universities for the Future of Europe aims to be.

The successful candidate has:

  • Experience in and knowledge of academic research environment (e.g. holding a PhD) in an international setting;
  • A high interest in transformational initiatives in Higher Education;
  • Experience in working in an international, multi-disciplinary environment and ability to display organizational and cultural sensitivity
  • Professional project management skills;
  • The ability to build co-operations with internal and external stakeholders, both national and international;
  • Strong communication skills on different organizational levels;
  • Professional knowledge of English and Dutch;
  • Readiness to work in an agile way, no fear to fail and start over again;
  • A creative mind in finding new solutions to complex problems.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract: 1 year with the possibility for an extension that matches the duration of the mentioned projects.

  • 1.0 FTE
  • UFO function profile salary scale 10, level 1 – range between € 2960 – 4670 (on a full-time basis)
  • A dynamic and motivating workplace that gives insight in the development of European collaboration in Higher Education.
  • Starting date: as soon as possible.
  • The post entails frequent travel within Europe to attend YUFE meetings and visit partner institutions.

In addition to good primary terms of employment, UM also offers a nice package of secondary terms of employment. You can think of: flexible working hours, many days off (232 holiday hours per year with a full-time appointment and the possibility to work an extra 2 hours per week to have 96 extra holiday hours on an annual basis), a good pension scheme, the possibility of working from home and collective labor agreement á la carte.
