Job Description

UM SPORTS is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated volleyball coach for the student volleyball association Fyrfad; specifically for the first men's team. The first men's team currently competes in the first division. The team consists of experienced and motivated young talents and trains twice a week (on Mondays and Wednesdays).

Requirements

We expect the following from our new Volleyball coach:

  • Demonstrable experience in giving volleyball training
  • Preferably holds a Volleyball Trainer Diploma (VT)
  • Ability to teach in both English and Dutch
  • Availability on weekends to coach the men's first team in both home and away games
  • Affinity with student sports and its associated culture
  • Availability to give training in the evenings

Practical Information:

  • Start Date: September 1, 2024
  • Working Hours: 3.5 hours per week; divided over 2 training sessions
  • Subject: Volleyball (indoor)
  • Location: University Sports Center, Maastricht (USC)

What we offer

As Volleyball Coach Men's First Team MSVV FYRFAD at Student Services Centre, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 7 - 8 according to UFO profile Sports Instructor, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €2693,00 and €4103,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0,1 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.

Working at Student Services Centre

The Student Services Centre (SSC) is the central contact point for all student services and helps students with a variety of issues related to studying and student life.

The SSC provides students with information about admissions, enrolment, tuition fees, and diploma recognition. Additionally, students can seek legal advice on study-related issues, career guidance, language courses, or assistance from a psychologist through the SSC.

Moreover, the SSC offers various extracurricular activities such as a diverse range of sports options at the University Sports Centre, opportunities for volunteering, and lectures and workshops through Studium Generale.

This way, the SSC provides students with the chance to develop and enrich themselves in areas beyond their studies, enabling them to enter the job market with a solid foundation consisting of broad-based knowledge, skills and competencies.

The direct interaction with students and the variety of services makes the SSC a dynamic work environment. UM SPORT

UM SPORT, part of the Student Service Centre (SSC) at Maastricht University, organizes the sports program for students, staff, and alumni of Maastricht University, as well as for students of Zuyd University of Applied Sciences. With a diverse sports offering of over 60 different activities, 31 Student Sports Associations, fun events, and student-friendly prices, UM SPORT provides a healthy and enjoyable sports experience catering to everyone's interests.

The international character of Maastricht University is strongly reflected in UM SPORT, both among its members and staff. Activities are primarily offered bilingually (in Dutch and English) to ensure accessibility for everyone. The UM SPORT team consists of over 120 employees including sports teachers, instructors, receptionists, and department staff. Many of the employees are or were students at Maastricht University and all share a passion for sports and physical activity.

FYRFAD

Fyrfad, the Maastricht Student Volleyball Association, is an active volleyball club with approximately 180 members divided into 11 teams competing in the regional NeVoBo league and a beginner's team. This makes Fyrfad one of the largest Student Sports Associations in Maastricht! Within Fyrfad, students can play at various levels, from 4th division to 1st division or in the beginner's team.

Fyrfad is more than just volleyball; it plays a significant role in the personal development and social life of its members. Fyrfad organizes numerous activities throughout the year, from member weekends to participating in Eredivisie or Liga matches, from cantuses to Hajraa Outdoor.
