The Center for European Studies (CES) is looking for an enthusiastic Student Affairs Officer to prepare, coordinate, and run study abroad semester programmes for international students.

What will you do?

• Preparing, coordinating, and day-to-day running of various (study abroad) programmes
• Academic advising of students from different universities around the world
• Taking responsibility for programme budgets
• Organising and accompanying single or multiple day study trips throughout Europe
• Organising information sessions for international students from diverse cultural backgrounds
• Drawing up class and examination schedules for relevant programmes within CES

Requirements

As a successful candidate, you should possess the following skills and competences:

• Result-orientated: activities and decision-making are focused upon the realisation of qualitative and quantitative results and a continual striving for improvement;
• Planning and organising: maintains a good overview of tasks, dividing them methodically (action, time-management and resources), sets priorities and monitors progress, has a great talent for organisation;
• Openness to and experience with cultural diversity is essential; knowing how to handle issues relating to cultural differences in an efficient and professional manner and an ability to demonstrate a high-level of interpersonal skills in this regard;
• Collaboration: contributes to common goals of the organisation, even if it concerns subjects that do not directly belong to core duties, a hands-on mentality;
• Ability to anticipate: can identify the consequences of given problems or developments and provide alternatives for eventual outcomes with a flexible outlook and approach;
• Excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken)
• Very client and service-oriented;
• Good experience of the complete Office-package
• Knowledge of Maastricht University, experience in International Higher Education and knowledge of American culture is preferred.
• Work experience in higher education and/or study abroad is preferred

What we offer

As Student Affairs Officer CES at Student Services Centre, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

• Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 8 according to UFO profile Student Affairs Officer, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3186,00 and €4255,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
• An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0,8 - 1,0 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.
• At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.

Working at Student Services Centre

The Student Services Centre (SSC) is the central contact point for all student services and helps students with a variety of issues related to studying and student life. For example, the SSC provides students with information on admission, registration, tuition fees and diploma recognition, but they can also go there for legal advice on study-related matters, career advice, a language course or help from a psychologist. In addition, the SSC offers all kinds of extracurricular activities such as a broad sports offer at the University Sports Centre, volunteering opportunities or lectures and workshops through Studium Generale. This way, the SSC offers students the opportunity to develop and enrich themselves in other areas besides their studies so that they can enter the job market with a broad-based knowledge, skills and competencies.

The direct contact with students and the variety of services, make the SSC a dynamic working environment. The SSC structurally cooperates extensively with faculties, other services centres within UM, students and external partners to support the student in the best possible way.
