At the University College Maastricht (UCM) we are looking for an Officer Student Affairs to run our administrative educational processes.

Job description

UCM is an international Liberal Arts and Sciences Honours College that specializes in Bachelor education for academically passionate and highly motivated students from a wide variety of backgrounds. Drawing on the strengths of Maastricht University’s faculties and its own core staff, it offers its students over 150 courses and an extensive skills training program, as well as a close-knit academic community. Academic freedom of choice and personal attention are hallmarks of the program. After completing their studies, many students go on to renowned Master’s or PhD programs, and a wide range of careers.

As Student Affairs Officer offers you will be the first point of contact for students. You will help them with questions and administrative matters regarding their study. Since UCM offers students a broad range of courses to choose from, covering all scientific disciplines, they have high this freedom of choice, all students have an individual curriculum and consequently scheduling and administration is a rather complex process. More specifically you will be responsible for:

  • Answering questions of students either in person during open office hours or via email;
  • Providing information and assistance to course coordinators and students on educational administration; e.g. course catalogue;
  • Administer, monitor and process students who (re-)register;
  • Providing student support to enrolled students on course registration, providing transcripts and all other educational administration;
  • Providing support in ordering, processing and archiving course materials, such as books, e-readers and course manuals;
  • Provide clear communication for our students and teachers;
  • Provide administrative support to our Academic Advisors;
  • Coordination of exams;
  • Helping out colleagues in peek moments; e.g. organization of Community Events.

Requirements

You have an eye for details and you excel at keeping track of student data and records. This is reflected in organization skills, which allow you to work in a structured and accurate manner. You are also self-motivated, service oriented, visible and approachable. Furthermore you have:

  • A relevant MBO education and working level;
  • Experience with and affinity for students and educational administrative work;
  • Experience with working in diffferent systems, like MS Office.
  • Affinity with planning and scheduling;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English as well as Dutch.

What we offer

As Student Affairs Officer at Faculty of Science & Engineering, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 7 according to UFO profile Education-/Research Officer, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €2693,00 and €3636,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 1.0 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
