The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) is currently recruiting a Student Adviser. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague who is customer focussed, flexible and that has a collegial attitude to join our team of study advisers at the office of student affairs. If the job description fits your profile and gets you motivated even more than you already are, please send in an application!
As a student adviser you inform, coach and guide students on a range of academic matters, such as study planning and skills development, orientation towards study specialisation and career options. You also offer support to students faced with personal circumstances that may affect their well-being and academic performance. Your main objective is to promote and facilitate study progress and to help students to make the right choices within their study programme. You interact with academic staff where it concerns feedback of students on for example study load, exams etc. in order to improve quality of education where possible or necessary. You are aware of (and keep up to date with) the rules and regulations that apply to the FASoS educational programs and are for a large part recorded in the Education and Exam Regulation. In order to track students that are at risk to drop out in an early phase and to give them support as soon as possible, you -and your student adviser team members- will design a new more pro-active oriented way of working. Cooperation with teaching as well as support staff from within and outside the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences will be part of the developmental process. In order to assure and evaluate the quality of our services, you will participate regularly in intra and inter faculty meetings and assemblies. As a team member you participate in an (inter)national network of higher education institutions and professional platforms for study and career guidance.
You are an “approachable person” that likes to interact with young people and you are able to put yourself in their place. You are a good listener and have a practical attitude and can think out of the box when it comes to solving problems.
