Job Description

The School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University is seeking a full-time Senior Educationalist to join its team at the SBE Learning Academy. As an integral member of our team, you will work on a variety of projects aimed at supporting colleagues to improve teaching quality, assessment and designing engaging learning environments. The SBE Learning Academy offers workshops, mentoring and coaching to support continuous professional development for its academic staff. Click here to have a look at our activities.

As a senior educational developer, you will e.g.:

  • Be involved in various tasks of the Learning Academy, incl. facilitating of and advising during curriculum (re)design trajectories in both BSc and MSc programmes
  • Provide support to e.g.: tutors about delivering education, course coordinators about assessment and course design, programme leaders about assessment programme and curriculum design, Faculty Board and the Education Institute about developments in Higher Education
  • Design and/or deliver evidence-informed workshops and trainings
  • Participate in educational innovation projects, incl. team-research opportunities

Requirements

As a successful candidate, you hold a master's degree (or equivalent experience) in Educational Sciences, Teacher Training, Learning and Development, Human Resource Development, Work and Organizational Psychology, or a closely related field. Your extensive background should include a demonstrated experience of at least 5 years in (Higher) Education, displaying your understanding of educational theories, methodologies and best practices. We are looking for an individual who likes to work in collaborative environments. Your ability to collaborate with e.g. support offices, teaching staff, and other stakeholders is important for contributing to our dynamic educational community. In addition to your commitment to teamwork, we are seeking someone with a passion for staying abreast of the latest trends and innovations in education. A continuous learner at heart, you are dedicated to personal and professional growth, bringing fresh insights and strategies to enhance our educational programs.

What we offer

As Senior Educational Developer at School of Business and Economics, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 10 - 11 according to UFO profile Education Development Officer, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3226,00 and €5929,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 1,0 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract will be converted to an indefinite contract.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
  • As Maastricht University, we offer various other excellent secondary employment conditions. These include a good pension scheme with the ABP and the opportunity for UM employees to participate in company fitness and make use of the extensive sports facilities that we also offer to our students.
