Vacancy – Registrar to the University Council (0.7-1.0 FTE depending on the preference of the appointee)
The UM University Council seeks to appoint a registrar for an initial period of 1 year, with the possibility of a permanent contract after a positive evaluation. The registrar is a member of the Staff Representation Office, which supports the council’s functioning, by managing the processes, agenda, records, and procedures of the council. The registrar works in a team with the secretary, sharing and coordinating many tasks between them, and reports to the chair and the presidium of the University Council.
The University Council is the university’s central representative body, elected by staff and students. It has wide-ranging powers of advice and consent on matters of university governance. The council is composed of six academic staff members, four support staff members and ten student members (20 total). Plenary meetings are held once a month. The council has three committees: the Research and Education Committee, the Strategy Committee and the Operations Committee. These committees also meet once a month. The presidium, consisting of the chair and vice-chair of the council and chairs of the committees, meets every week to prepare the committee meetings and the plenary meeting. In principle the registrar is invited to all the meetings mentioned above, which usually take place in English.
This is an initial appointment for a period of one year, with the possibility of a permanent contract after a positive evaluation. UM staff with a permanent contract will maintain that appointment.
The position is classified in the UFO-profile Secretary 1 or Secretary 2, depending on experience and expertise. The gross monthly salary is minimum of € 3,098 and maximum of € 4,670 in accordance with scale 9 or 10 of the collective labor agreement for Dutch Universities. An 8% holiday and an 8.3% year-end allowance is also provided.
