As part of the strategic renewal process, the SBE Board has identified three transformational initiatives to address the challenges the School faces in the domains of education, research, and its organisation. One of these initiatives pertains to a modernisation of PBL and rethinking education in terms of content and delivery. A taskforce Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) has decided that the focus of this initiative will be on the use of technology to advance personalisation of assessment and learning. More concretely, the main responsibility of this person will be related to the first stages in the implementation of technology-enhanced learning at SBE.

Job description

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead the development and delivery of technology enhanced learning at SBE, including learner analytics.
  • Create an ongoing operational project plan for the delivery of the TEL vision of SBE, including embedding it across all SBE programmes.
  • Communicate the vision to stakeholders within SBE.
  • Advise all stakeholders on the pedagogic value of new technologies and the approach needed to implement advanced technology enhanced teaching activities.
  • Collaborating with a Learning Academy team on staff development and support for teaching staff.

This will include:

  • Making an inventory of relevant Canvas plug-ins (e.g., from large textbook publishing companies), following up on SBE’s vision on education.
  • Contacting course coordinators who could be suitable users of these plug-ins.
  • Leading the further implementation of standardized rubrics in Canvas.
  • Leading the selection and (pilot) implementation of a curriculum visualization tool.
  • Leading the selection and (pilot) implementation of a learning and development portfolio tool that allows us to keep track of what students have learned and what competences are still to be developed.
  • Leading the implementation of an onboardingtool (in the form of a wiki) for new teaching staff members.
  • Leading the development of a project aimed at creating large-scale item repositories for courses with multiple choice exams at SBE.
  • Making an inventory of available tools (e.g., Loom) and infrastructure (e.g., recording facilities at UM library) for the recording of lectures and knowledge clips.
  • Developing budget estimates for the TEL efforts at SBE.

Requirements

What We Are Looking For

The School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University, the Netherlands, invites applicants for a full-time position as educational developer, for a period of two years. Successful candidates will, by the time of appointment, have:

  • Obtained a master (or doctorate) degree in educational sciences (e.g., educational psychology), human resource development or information systems management. Candidates with a background in educational sciences would need to have affinity with information technology, candidates with a background in information systems management need to have affinity with education.
  • Demonstrated excellence in information system management, project management, skills, consultancy and/or educational development.

As a project leader at The School of Business and Economics you will be employed by the most international university of the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

  • Good employment conditions. The position is in grated in scale 10 according to the UFO profile educational developer, function level 3 with corresponding salary ranging from € 3.226 to € 5.090 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus are applicable.
  • An employment contract for a period of 24 months with a scope of 0.8 - 1.0 FTE.
  • As Family-friendly University, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
