Good metadata enables scientists to easily find and combine various data. Additionally, it helps libraries increase the visibility and discoverability of their scientific information. Due to the enormous increase in scientific information and the possibilities to connect data, the use of metadata is becoming increasingly important.
There are various developments happening around next-generation metadata, which will keep challenging you in this role. As a next-generation metadata specialist, you will become an expert in cataloging with Linked (Open) Data (LOD) among other things. You will do this together with the core group Linked Data, which also consists of a Linked Data Specialist and a Data Engineer.
You will guide your metadata colleagues in this process. Together with them, you will ensure the sustainable accessibility, discoverability, and usability of resources and collections, with a particular focus on cataloging according to the new international standards agreed upon by the University Libraries & National Library (UKB) collectively.
We are looking for you if you understand the context in which metadata is used. You are able to relate the functions and goals of metadata to various types of users with different needs (such as automated processing).
