MERLN is looking for a Management-/Office Assistant to complete the role of ordering materials/items/articles/objects for the office as well as the labs and help where needed with the MERLN-NEWS team.

Job Description

MERLN Institute or Technology-inspired Regenerative Medicine at Maastricht University in the Netherlands invites applications for a Management-/Office Assistant to join our Operational Support team. The Operational Support team consists of a Management Assistant, Lab Technicians, and an Office Assistant. You will be working closely with direct colleagues as well as PhDs, Post-Docs, and Researchers. This position is available due to pregnancy leave of a colleague.

The tasks consist of the following:

  • Ordering materials/items/articles/objects for the office as well as the labs:
    • Placing orders in the SAP/Ariba system;
    • Following up orders in the SAP/Ariba system;
    • Answering incoming questions regarding (current and future) orders;
    • Be a proactive link between the Purchasing Department of Maastricht University, the actual ordering party (the researcher) and suppliers.

  • Supporting the MERLN-NEWS team:
    • Updating news items on the MERLN website;
    • Supporting in keeping the MERLN social media (LinkedIn, Instagram) up-to-date.

Job Requirements

  • Proficiency in the Dutch and English language;
  • Accuracy: this work requires great precision;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Background in Technical Lab environment is advantage;
  • Preferred education level: HBO (according to the Dutch Education System);
  • Knowledge of MS Office (esp. Excel, Word, Outlook);
  • Available on short notice: preferably starting in January 2024;
  • The vacancy is also open for students with Lab/Technical knowledge, who are looking for a temporary job;

Part-time factor is preferable 0.8fte but is to some extend negotiable (at least 0.6fte).

What we offer

As Management-/Office Assistant at Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:


  • Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 6 - 7 according to UFO profile Management/Office-assistent, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €2618,00 and €3636,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
  • An employment contract for a period up to at least 1st of September 2024 with a scope of ~0.8 FTE. Depending on performance and the availability of means at the institute level a further continuation might be possible.
  • At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
