The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) is looking for an Educational Coordinator to support our BA and MA programmes. The Office of Student Affairs is part of the Faculty Office, ensures that all administrative processes underlying education/the ‘student-life-cycle’ run smoothly, and supports both staff and student in relation to administrative issues.

Job description

We are looking for a coordinator for our educational programme(s) who recognises and processes organisational and operational tasks that come with it and supports the program director(s) in running their programmes in a successful way. As indicated above the Educational Coordinator (EC) supports the FASoS programme director(s) and has responsibilities in the following areas:

  • The EC is the first contact point for incoming requests on organisational and operational tasks related to the programme;
  • The EC prioritises and replies to incoming requests and consults with the programme director whenever necessary;
  • The EC is able to translate needs and ideas in operational reality;
  • The EC liaises with support staff of the other teams in the OSA (Exams, Admissions & Front Office, Planning, International Relations), with staff of the FASoS clusters (HRM, Finance, Marketing and Communications, Research Support Office and Education Development and Policy Office) and with external stakeholders (e.g. Student Services Centre, University Library) whenever needed;
  • The EC evaluates and optimizes operational processes together with the head of the Office of Student Affairs
  • The EC Supports the programme director by realising the practical side of the curriculum together with OSA offices and performs administrative tasks related to for example:
  • Programme education plan;
  • Organisation of events, meetings;
  • Requests for key-figures or other data;
  • Quality issues like student evaluations and EPC
  • Programme finances;
  • Support with re-accreditations and midterm assessments;
  • Marketing and communication: Website, Open days, introduction days and experience days;
  • Room booking;
  • Organisation of calibration sessions, yearly meetings with course coordinators and tutors;
  • Staff planning
  • Global year schedule (e.g. requests related to group lay out, planning of electives)Coordination of education which is programme transcending, like pre-masters and UM-minors.
  • Requirements

    We are looking for someone who thrives in a challenging working environment! You are pro-active in your tasks and you combine managerial and organisational skills with enthusiasm for creating a supportive and engaging learning environment. You are a team-player and have a collegial mind-set. You have good communication skills and you easily adapt to different work styles and to the expectations of those you work with. You have completed a relevant HBO degree or have reached this level in terms of experience, and you have experience in the educational administrative processes in an HBO/WO environment. Preferably you have working experience at our university and in the operational side of academic educational programmes. You are willing to go the extra mile on the road of excellent education logistics. Finally, you have an excellent command of English and Dutch (level C1), both spoken and written.

    Conditions of employment
    • We offer a dynamic and challenging job in an internationally oriented organisation where students receive an advanced education and scholars conduct exciting research. We offer a 0.8 fte fte appointment as Educational Coordinator (UFO-profile “Onderwijscoordinator”), for one year. In case of good performance, extension of the employment is a possibility. The conditions of employment are excellent. Remuneration will be according to standard salary levels, depending on education and relevant work experience, in salary scale 10 (between € 3.226,- and € 5.090,- gross per month, based on a fulltime appointment) according to the collective labour agreement (CAO) of Dutch Universities, including 8% holiday pay and an 8,3% end of year payment. A preliminary scale might apply in case the suitable candidate has yet to develop certain professional skills.
    • Contract type: Temporary, One year. In case of good performance and equal prospects for the faculty, extension of the employment on a permanent basis is a possibility.

    • As a holder of the 'Family-friendly University' quality mark, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
