Job Description

The Center for European Studies (CES) and the Maastricht Summer School (MSS), part of the Student Services Centre, are looking for an Education Development Officer.

We are looking for an autonomous and internationally oriented person with great general knowledge, a broad scope of interests and a keen understanding of higher international education. Your tasks include:

• Monitoring the quality of education, assessment and instructors;
• Liaison for educational matters (EDLAB, LLLA, national platforms) / networking
• Developing courses for MSS, occasionally for CES
• Evaluating courses; advising on updates and redesign of courses;
• Lead for the Academic Board of CES and MSS;
• ECTS calculations and alignment with academic standards / match with ILO;
• Chairing the CES and MSS examination committee;
• Continuous update and maintenance of the EER.
• Hosting academic sessions (i.e. PBL training) and educational workshops for international students and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Job Requirements

Our ideal candidate:

• Holds a Master’s degree in the field of Educational Psychology, Educational Sciences, Learning Sciences, Human Resource Development or a related field
• Has have teaching experience, preferably in higher education.
• Can demonstrate a high-level of interpersonal skills and has the ability to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders, including academic and professional staff and international students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Has a strong drive to cooperate with a diverse and dynamic team and contribute to common goals of the organization, even if outside of the individual’s core duties, is required.
• Has a good command of English (C1 level) and Dutch (B1 level)

What we offer

As Education Development Officer CES and MSS at Student Services Centre, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:

• Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 10 according to the UFO profile Education Development Officer, function level 3 with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3226,00 and €5090,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
• An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of 0,8 - 1,0 FTE. Upon proven suitability, the employment contract can be extended.
• At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.

Working at Student Services Centre

The Student Services Centre (SSC) is the central contact point for all student services and helps students with a variety of issues related to studying and student life. For example, the SSC provides students with information on admission, registration, tuition fees and diploma recognition, but they can also go there for legal advice on study-related matters, career advice, a language course or help from a psychologist. In addition, the SSC offers all kinds of extracurricular activities such as a broad sports offer at the University Sports Centre, volunteering opportunities or lectures and workshops through Studium Generale. This way, the SSC offers students the opportunity to develop and enrich themselves in other areas besides their studies so that they can enter the job market with a broad-based knowledge, skills and competencies.
