Cluster manager for the Research Support Office of the SBE Graduate Schools

What will you do?

• Be in charge of the implementation of GSBE’s research policy in close alignment with the research strategy of SBE in particular in the domains of funding strategy, internationalization, collaboration and research data management (RDM);
• Monitor the preparation, adaptation and proper implementation of the procedures and regulations for translating the research policy into allocation of resources and control of adherence to procedures and regulations;
• Be responsible for the daily operation of the research school, management of the GSBE budget, formulation of the budget plan and processing of the final statement;
• Develop the collaboration between the Graduate Schools from an operational perspective;
• Manage and coordinate activities within the Research Support Office (including job performance-, assessment- and career development of the staff (10 people), as well as training and supervising with expertise in policy development, fundraising, data processing and other areas).

You have

• An academic level of working and thinking, as demonstrated by a master diploma in an area of expertise relevant to the job;
• Experience with policy advice, the academic environment and scientific research; knowledge of one of the SBE research fields and having a PhD are seen as plusses;
• Organizational sensitivity and impact; you are also able to connect with representatives of the various SBE sections;
• A unifying and empathic approach to the role of leader, with attention for different ideas, experiences and perspectives;
• A creative and collaborative style of advising;
• Demonstrated experience in a leadership position;
• Strong communication skills, as well as proficiency in Dutch and English, both verbally and in writing (C1);
• Knowledge of budget control and financial management.

What do we offer?

We offer a dynamic and challenging job in an internationally-oriented organisation where students receive inspiring education and scholars conduct excellent research. We offer a 0.8 – 1 fte appointment for the period of one year, with a possibility for a permanent contract afterwards based on a mutual match. Remuneration will be according to standard salary scale 11 or 12 of the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, depending on education and relevant work experience. This implies a gross monthly salary between € 3.746 and € 5.826 per month (based on a full-time appointment). Each year the standard salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%. The university’s relocation policy stipulates that the selected candidate is supported to move to (the vicinity of) Maastricht. If not already living in Maastricht (or its direct surroundings), s/he will be eligible for moving allowances. Other secondary conditions include e.g. a pension scheme, extensive leave entitlements, commuting allowance, parental and partner leave.
